They first caught each others eyes across the room while working for the Canberra Times back in 2011. From there, it was a slow courting of brief glances and stolen moments. They didn’t really start talking until early 2012. James (Jimmy) would start to make hand-made gifts and would pick roses for Nicole on a daily basis. A few months later, they became official.
They have been together ever since, creating a beautiful family together in the process. Jimmy loved that Nicole was cute and funny. But more importantly, that she not only took him, but his two older kids and loved them both like they were her own. Nicole loves Jimmy’s goofiness, but that he has a sweet and gentle heart that pretty much only she gets to see, which makes it all the more special to her.
With Jimmy’s two older kids and the three younger ones they have since been blessed with, they have the best of times all the time. Their house is filled with love and laughter on a daily basis and there is always some new story to hear about that leaves them all in stitches!
But children aside, Nicole knew it was love when Jimmy handed her a key to his place and said “I will see you there after work, yeah?” Jimmy knew he’d found something special in Nicole very early on, and as such, he proposed very early.
It was 3 days before Christmas 2012. Jimmy ran a steaming hot bubble bath for Nicole, filed with rose petals. The room was lit by candlelight. And this was all ready for her by the time she came home from work. Nicole took advantage, jumped straight in, and while she was in the bath, Jimmy got down on knee, and the rest, as we all know, is history.
On their wedding day, which was clearly years and years after the original proposal, it wasn’t about the marriage so much, it was about celebrating their amazing life together with their closest friends and family. We spent the whole day with them out at the Tuggeranong Homestead, just chilling with their friends, and a small time for photos as well - a perfect laid-back family celebration!
