Naomi & Damien Mole

MARRIED 15 APRIL 2021

Life is a fickle thing - sometimes the right time for one person is not the right time for another. But, sometimes, just sometimes, you get handed a number from one of your very long-term fiends, saying you should give it call. His name was Damien, and he was given the number… Her name was Naomi, and she picked up the call!

It’s been just six short years since that phone call, and their lives have already changed for the better! In fact, Damien has told us many times, he felt his life renewed the moment her met Naomi, more or less feeling like he’d been given a second chance at a happy life.

But, it wasn’t just love at first sight, it grew and grew fro their first meeting. It was Naomi’s amazing caring sense of community and her wicked sense of humour that turned their friendship into love. For Naomi, it was Damien’s positive approach to everything, his sneaky smile and that he has shown her what love truly meant! Naomi’s history was just as dark as Damien’s, and this was the very first time she had seen what love looked like when it comes from a true and honest place of respect and fidelity.

In their short time together Damien has managed to make Naomi’s dreams come true on trips away, by having her burst into tears as soon as they walked into their accommodation after been given a very specific set of relatively generic instructions. Naomi remembers with just as much joy now as she does the night they spent on the back of “old matey” watching the fireworks for New Years Eve in Weston Park, only to realise that when they left after midnight, they had been penned in. They waited patiently until a security guard finally came over to let them out. He took one look at the truck and nodded in agreement, wishing them a great new year ahead. As they were driving home, they managed to also get pulled over at a random breath testing station - the officer really loved their story - it’s certainly a unique one!

And if that’s not enough to make you smile, they have many more amazing beautiful stories like teaching James to “splash splash”, Zac calling them “Namien”, getting covered in mud in Fiji, drinking cocktails on the balcony of their favourite restaurant in Shellharbour, and many more!

While Naomi tells us that it snuck up on her just how much she was in love with Damien, they both knew it was love for real when Damien had been away for three weeks for work. And when he returned, she ran to him (just like in the movies) and told him to never leave her again!

So it made absolute sense that they should get married. But Damien had to propose before they could truly be Namien. During a night away at Milton Park in Bowral (a gift Naomi’s daughter had provided them), after dinner, Damien took Naomi back to the hotel, it was a simple bended knee and a simple question, to which Naomi said “Yes, yes, yes! A thousand times, YES!!” It was mid April 2019.

So the southern highlands became another place of importance for the two of them, so it was fitting they chose Fitzroy Inn, Mittagong for their venue - for those who haven’t been, it’s a must-see in Mittagong. We spent the whole day with them, to cover their preparation through to all the important parts of the reception. Here are just a few of the shots we got on the day they officially became “Namien”…
