Elizabeth & Terence McLaughlin

MARRIED 30 APRIL 2022

We’ve said this a million times - Tinder is a great way to find your future partner.  But for these two, they met briefly on Tinder, then just stopped chatting for about 8 months or so. And it wasn’t until an evening around Christmas time where Terrence found a handle on SnapChat that he thought was his cousin, because it’s the exact same nick-name everyone gives his cousin, but it turned out to be Lizzy again - the odds are astronomical!!

In any case, that’s how they met and stayed together, and it’s been the best 4 years of Lizzy’s life, and will likely be the best rest of both of their lives, so far as they’re concerned.

For each of them, the were exactly what they each needed over the last four years, each of them standing by each other through some of the toughest times in their lives, and this amongst many other reasons, is why they fell in love with each other. He makes her feel the safest she has ever felt. Oh, and he is just the cutest with kids, and Lizzy can’t wait to have their own kids as a result.

One of the best things about their life together is that they always go out on a date once a week! It could be as simple as dinner out at their favourite ramen restaurant, or takeaway and a movie at home, but it’s more about the fact they both make time weekly to spend time with each other, and it’s beautiful.

Some of the funniest times they’ve had have both come from both of the times Terry proposed to Lizzy. Lizzy remembers that she had just finished a 13 hour shift, and had got home around the same time as Terry did, although he had come from a Christmas Party with the boys, meaning he had a few extra drinks, and he had also been somehow convinced to go home and propose. So when he got home, he started rummaging loudly through his clothes to find the ring box, and then tried to get down on knee, nearly falling through the wall, but fumbling with the box and sticking it in her face, saying “Open this!”. Lizzy giggled to herself seeing as she thought he might do something a little more romantic, so she joked, asking him which finger the ring would go on, to which Terry replied, “Which one do you think?”. Lizzy giggled even more, and asked him if there was a question to be asked. And Terry was like “Oh yeah! Do wanna get married?”

It was such a silly way to do it, but so cute and so Terry.

He did propose a second time during their trip to Singapore, 3 months later, again with a few too many beers in him, but as they were with Lizzy’s family, her parents reassured Lizzy that everything was fine when he disappeared to go get the ring. It was fine as it meant that she now has two engagement rings. Very sweet.

On their wedding day, we managed to get through everything that they had hoped and dreamed for, and the weather turned out so perfectly. Just check out the photos, because they truly show just how much fun we had with these guys! :D
