Laura & Samuel Shaw

MARRIED 22 MAY 2021

Since November 12, 2016, Laura & Sam have officially been a thing. But not just any thing, a real deep and meaningful love-filled relationship thing. Not something that can be trivialised as just a simple thing, not something you could throw away and forget about. Real Deep Love. Love that makes you feel amazing when you step into the room whether the other is. Love that heals all wounds. Love that is the feeling you get when you hold hands. It’s what you’re meant to do. You keep doing that and don’t let go. That’s the secret.

Laura & Sam met through work, but it was their love of all things nerdy, such a Doctor Who (who features just enough in their wedding to be seen, but not forgotten). They have since spent years travelling the world together after deciding that stint of house-sitting together should not just be a stint, but a reason to move in with each other and start becoming the persons they was up to every single morning - start becoming each other’s future.

Laura reckons Sam is the kindest person she has ever met, and he makes hr laugh almost every single day! Sam sees how supportive and caring Laura is, and shouldn’t think of anyone else best suited to be the mother of his child.

Speaking of children, they have a most beautiful daughter, who is what we call a perfect miracle. Laura & Sam’s wedding was delayed due to the original 2020 Covid-19 lockdown in the ACT, but they didn’t let that get in he way of their lives together, and instead chose to plough on and create a child (if possible). And the miracle happened! They beautiful little baby girl was born weeks before their new wedding day, and true to form, they brought her along to the wedding and Sam held her in his arms for the entire ceremony! Such a beautiful moment that we captured!

Prior to the birth of the beautiful daughter, they traveled together to see Ed Sheeran in Queensland, and that still remains one their favourite moments together alongside plenty of new moments that their daughter has helped to create. Moments like changing nappies only to be met with an impromptu sprinkler, or what is known amongst parents as an explosion… Yes people, it’s as bad as it sounds - especially when a nappy isn’t protecting what it’s supposed to protect…

But their trip to Japan prior to all of the baby things and the covid things still remains a major highlight, even if it just to remember the time they sat on the tarmac just enjoying each others company and watching movie son the plane only to hear an announcement saying they were just about to take off. They laughed and laughed because they thought they had taken off hours prior! They hadn’t even realised the plane hadn’t moved an inch!

The proposal came on a cruise, yet another trip they these guys have taken together to explore the world. It was only moments after the ship had left the Sydney Harbour that Sam decided to drop to his knees and pull out the ring box he had been concealing all day. His proposal kicked off a beautiful holiday cruise that Laura will almost never forget.

On their wedding day, we followed the two of them from their preparation through to their reception. Whisking them away to a few awesome and rather unused weddings spots during the sunset before heading back to Hotel Realm for the festivities to begin. Here is just a spattering of the images we captured on their wedding day…
