Katie & Heath Nott

MARRIED 19 MARCH 2021

Nothing says you’re giddy in love when you get in the car at the end of your first date and you whack the steering wheel yelling “Oh My GOOOODD!” It’s a feeling that so many of us have felt after first dates of the people that we’ve fallen in love with, and it’s exactly what happened for Katie after her first date with Heath.

Of course, the better part of the story is that Katie actually spent what seems like forever on Tinder searching for the the perfect man, in the way our modern century finds it so easy to do. Heath’s picture popped up and Katie thought he looked HOT!! Like SMOKIN’ HOT. But she thought that he would have had so many girls knocking on his door that she wouldn’t get a look at. But for those who know Tinder well, once you’ve been through everyone available, the stack resets and you can go through everyone again. Turns out that Katie waited until the 3rd time that Heath popped up for her until she finally swiped right. They matched instantaneously. The first date happened and Katie was surprised to receive a request for dinner, heath mentioned that he loved kids, and it was clear he would be able to step into a father figure for Katie’s daughter and their relationship just grew from there.

Katie found so many parts of Heath’s personality so alluring. From his ability to make her feel safe at all times, to his sense of humour such that they can truly be idiots with each other, Heath is the prefect match for Katie.

One of the best memories they have together was of a night they were meant to be cooking dinner together, but the power went out literal moments before they were meant to begin cooking. It was our for hours. In order to make sure something was eaten that night, they went on an impromptu evening out for Thai food in Belconnen. They even decided to try something on the menu they’ve never tried before. Lo and behold the item Heath ordered is now the item he orders every single time they eat Thai food. Sometimes it’s the those impromptu nights that cerated the best memories!

Katie & Heath were originally meant to be married in March 2020, but they were the very first of our couples who were stifled by the coronavirus. And they moved their wedding forward by a year in order to celebrate their wedded bliss with the rest of their extended family in March 2021. Heath even included a dedicated to the beautiful Chaela as a part of their ceremony. In a very moving part of their ceremony, Heath presented Chaela with a necklace, as a way of including her in his marriage to Katie, as both women are just as important to him as the other - and they came as a package deal! We may or my not have shared a tear with everyone else at this moment - we’re not telling you if we did or didn’t though!

And we also wanted to share our beautiful ability to mix Canberra’s beautiful architecture with our wedding imagery - something our Director loves doing as his other main passion in photography is architecture.

So, on their day, we started with each of them in their respective getting ready locations before joining them for their ceremony and then out to the beautiful grounds of the National Gallery. The best part was that it rained, allowing for even more ways we could create the imagery they really wanted from us - dark and brooding. We finished the day with a little part of their reception in the Kings Hall of the Old Parliament House. Below are just a few of the images we captured…
