Clare & Chris Malam

MARRIED 5 MARCH 2021

If your Tinder game is strong, then you’ll know the difference between going onto the platform for a one-night-stand vs joining it to find love. It is definitely more for finding the right person now than it ever was, but back when it started, when Clare & Chris first met, we’re fairly certain it wasn’t seen so much as a love-matching site. It’s only fair that when Clare & Chris found each other through the site, that they decided to keep that part closer to their chest, telling the story that they met through close friends to their parents before telling the real story - they were that keen on each other that they didn’t want anything like where they met preventing their closest friends and family doubting their relationship in any way.

Far too many of our couples met through Tinder, so we get it. Clare & Chris met in 2015, making it just shy 6 years between then and their marriage. ;)

They’ve experienced so much together, it was hard to find a few examples of fun stories that they could share, noting that the exact story about the time they first realised it was true love involves a series of events that we would much rather we never typed into words for you all to read. ;) It’s cute, don’t get us wrong. But also a bit gross. ;)

Instead, they told of us of some other funny moments in they’ve had together. Including, their very first date! Chris had already cooked the steaks to about medium before asking Clare how she liked her steak done. Typically, Clare eats her steak somewhere close to mooing. Even so, somehow they still made it to the second date.

Then there was the time Chris managed to time a visit so perfectly, Clare thought she had been tricked into partaking in a guided bird tour. But nothing takes the cake like Chris getting Clare to book a boat trip to Skellig Michael off the west coast of Ireland to see a puffin population, not mentioning it was a Star Wars filming location!! Trips to Skellig Michael have become one of the most popular destination thanks to the filming of Episodes 7 & 8, and Clare had no idea. It wasn’t until she told a work colleague how much trouble she was having trying to get a tour out there that her colleague informed of her of why it was so hard!!

It speaks volumes that their favourite trip together was the one to the west coast of Ireland! What a memory they would’ve had! We’re actually jealous!

They have many favourite moments of each other. Chris having to help find hand holds and grips that Clare could reach, seeing as Clare is so much smaller than Chris; realising Clare’s neurotic scheduling habits saved a stupid number of hours of queueing around London; Clare learning to use the drill and installing new blinds in the lounge room in the middle of the night; Chris sticking around despite all the impulse purchases including two cars and two houses, not all at once; Clare stocking the freezer with weeks worth of meals while Chris was out in the field. But the best thing is that no matter how much short notice Chris is given, he will always cook Clare’s girlfriends a dinner, make them gin and tonics, and cups of tea. Always. Thus, he’s a keeper.

The proposal didn’t come until the 27th of April 2019. They went to Lake Crackenback for the weekend and Chris had plans of climbing Kosiosko and proposing up the top. Clare has different plans. She busted her ankle and could barely walk (plus Chris had also forgotten about Clare’s utter hatred of chairlifts). Chris spent the whole day a bit grumpy trying to come up with a plan B, but he ended up proposing in front of the fire at their accommodation before they went out to dinner. That in itself is such a romantic proposal in itself, we’re not surprised that Clare said yes!

On their wedding day, we spent time with each of them before their ceremony in the gardens of the Grazing at Gundaroo. We then took them for a quick walk down the roads nearby before celebrating their marriage with their closest family and friends at the same restaurant. It was a beautiful day. Here is just a selection of the images we took…
