Love is something you find when you need it the most. It’s there to comfort you in your sleep and for you to wake up to in the morning, but when the time is right. So for Matthew, even though he has a daughter from a past time, his love was waiting for him in both hi and his daughters future.
And it appeared in the form of Catherine, whom both Matthew and his daughter Maddi, adored from the get go. Catherine was everything these two needed, and they made the perfect family together. So much so, that Maddi’s speech on the night of their wedding was a moment that brought Catherine to tears in such a moving way, it was felt all around the room. Absolutely something we will treasure in our memories as an exceptionally special moment.
Catherine & Matthew (Cat & Matt) first got in contact with us before Covid was ever felt around the world, and they had a very unique and AMAZING idea for their wedding. They both absolutely love the Viking/Nordic way of life, beliefs, and mantra, and wished to having a Nordic-themed wedding. They had approached quite a few different photographers, but we absolutely LOVED the idea! We were throwing Game of Thrones ideas around, many of which we created in small ways on their wedding day. And their wedding day would have happend if not for the pandemic. But, a year later, we were able to make it happen!
But it was the efforts of both Cat & Matt that really made this day truly something to behold. They played their parts to perfection, with outfits that truly made you think we were back in the Viking times. A ceremony with words and meaning that held so much more value than a standard western ceremony. Ceremonial exchanges of swords and the drinking the same horn accompanied to true Viking Norwegian hymns - music we have still yet to find since their wedding day!
We said it on the day, and we’ll say it again! Bring on more Viking weddings! It truly was an experience that needs to be experienced in person to feel the vibes and the energy that radiated from everyone.
We did our best to use the beautiful surrounds of the Gibraltar Hotel in Bowral to create Norwegian-inspired imagery, with tones matching those you’d get on that side of the world. And we LOVE the results. Check them out for yourselves below!
