When you’re down about life, you want someone to be there for you, who will get you completely, have your back and support you no matter what. And when you find that person, you hold onto them forever because you know it’ll be worth it - they might even get you a Batman shirt with a cape and let you race around Movie World like a child, taking as many pictures with all the DC stuff as humanly possible.

Sandy & Ricki met for the first time on a blind date setup by a mutual friend - it just so happened that Sandy had a colleague she worked with who had a neighbour they were sure was right for Sandy. Turns out, they were, because we’re writing a blog about these two lovebirds!

It was sometime in 2015 when they first had that fateful blind date, and since then it’s been the big things and the small things that brought them even closer together. Sandy tells us she fell in love with Ricki’s smile and his laugh - he’s someone who never lets the world around him stop him from laughing so loudly or freely. Ricki tells us not only did he think Sandy was a pretty fine looking gal, but it was her ability to tell the corniest “dad jokes” and her ability to always know what to say to make him smile.

They’ve had some pretty amazing adventures together including then time they were in Vietnam on Monkey Island. Their tour guide said he'd take them to the best ever lookout spot - which ended up being a fire watchtower on a rural property, surrounded by forest. To all those who know Ricki, you know he’s crazy petrified of both ladders and heights. Sandy was super keen to go up, but Ricki was not. However, he was keen to take an awesome photo of the view that he followed her up. Then, pale and shaky, took photos from the top, complaining bitterly that he really didn’t need to be that far up from the ground he so dearly loves, but loving the photos he was taking. Then a thunderstorm full of lightning strikes started to come towards them, and Sandy had to beg Ricki to follow her down to have them be as far away as possible from the high metal tower! We can only imagine the painstaking process they had to undertake to remove Ricki from the tower, but safe to say it took shorter than they expected, and they were safe from all the potential dangers. They still laugh about this moment to this day.

But now, in their beautiful house, with their very beautiful dog, Bruce, they make a perfect little family together, and they couldn’t be happier.

On their wedding day, we started with each of them separately before watching as Ricki nearly bursts into tears while Sandy walked down the aisle at the Yarralumla Woolshed. We took them from the Woolshed to Dunrossil Dr to take a few more portraits before heading back and partying the night away. Here is just a few of the images we captured on their day…
